Overview of the MAB1 battery maintenance workshop
A mobile container-based workshop that houses four cabinets for charging batteries – SHAF1 (BCRL0601). The two upper chargers are designed for 12-volt batteries, and there are also four chargers capable of charging both 12 V and 24 V batteries. All chargers are equipped with multiple protection levels: overcharge protection, overvoltage protection, high current protection, short-circuit protection, overheating protection, overvoltage protection, and reverse polarity protection. Thanks to a powerful generator, it is possible to charge up to 10 batteries simultaneously without any issues, and when connected to an external power source – up to 24 batteries at once. The large work surface allows convenient layout, repair, and servicing of the batteries.
Additionally, if necessary, extended cables can be used to operate a charger as a jump starter. Special attention should be paid to the safety measures implemented in the workshop. When power is supplied to the cabinet, the exhaust fan is activated first. This is necessary because whenever any lead-acid battery is being charged, it inevitably emits hydrogen and oxygen, which in high concentrations are dangerous to human health.
Each built-in cabinet contains 6 inverter devices that charge various types of batteries: GEL, AGM, WET, EFB.
Automatic operation mode: microprocessor control ensures fast and safe charging.
Protection: multifunctional protection system against overcharging, short circuits, overheating, and other risks.
Digital display: each station is equipped with a display for convenient monitoring of the charging process.
Durable housing: the cabinet provides convenient and safe storage of charging stations, maintaining order and organization in the workspace.
To enable routine battery servicing, the workshop is equipped with a workbench and two trolleys fitted with the necessary tools and equipment, including:
- a wide assortment of hand tools in the trolley;
- a set of electrically insulated tools;
- 2 sets of wrenches in cases – combination open-end and box-end;
- battery testers;
- measuring instruments such as a multimeter, infrared thermometer, refractometer, hydrometer, anemometer, and voltage tester;
- hydraulic crimping pliers for crimping cable lugs and sleeves;
- tools for crimping and cleaning terminals, as well as for stripping insulation;
- a gas soldering iron with a set of nozzles and a desoldering pump;
- LED flashlights;
- an air blow gun;
- magnetic trays, etc.
The workshop’s electrical equipment is powered by a high-capacity diesel generator. There is also provision for connecting the workshop to an external 380 V power grid.
A custom-designed electrical switchboard is engineered for high loads and specifically tailored to support the simultaneous operation of all electrical equipment. It has an IP54 protection rating.
